Global Business Leaders Takes Pro-active Steps to Contain Climate Change

Representatives of more than 150 multi-national companies, worth more $4 trillion market capitalization have signed a petition to take strong, early action on climate change. The hastily prepared petition drive, coordinated through the environmental office of Britain’s Prince Charles, is signed by leaders from mega companies such as Shell UK, GE International, Coca-Cola Co., Dupont Co., United Technologies Corp., Rolls Royce, Nestle SA, Unilever, British Airways and Volkswagen AG. The petition is aimed at the forth coming United Nations Summit in Bali, Indonesia, convened to draft a new environmental treaty to replace Kyoto Accord which expires in 2012.

The hastily pro-active approach by these mainstream business powerhouses clearly manifests that the usual pleasantry “How is the weather?” affects all businesses small or big. In the petition it urges to cut green house emissions by 50% by 2050 and the support for this cause is tremendous, that too from most unlikely quarters. The drastic climate change and its after effects have sent all economic assumptions finding their own way to the bin. United Nation has chosen the most suitable place in the world for the convention because no other nation, come close to Indonesia in terms of natural calamities and global warming oriented devastations.

The climate is an intricate system which influences every living organism in the world. The construction material of human body is with a multitude of such organisms. Nonetheless, even with our highest analytical knowledge which always found solution for varied problems, the road ahead to check climate change is bumpy and uphill. We are passing through an era which will annihilate the human race for ever. With one voice and one decision we can overcome, if we start working towards it today.
